GROUND-BREAKING green collective Sunseed has celebrated its 25th birthday with a jam-packed programme of eco-events.
Activities included revegetating their plot in Almeria, building polytunnels from bamboo, yoga workshops and wind turbine presentations.
“It’s been very busy,” said Patricia Canas, who added that it wasn’t always easy being a charity and constantly living off donations.
Sunseed launched in 1986 near Sorbas in Almeria when a small team of people started looking into ways of combating desertification.
Today it’s a working community demonstrating a low-impact lifestyle which welcomes hundreds of visitors a year and runs courses in permaculture and other environmentally-friendly ventures.
